Optimization and safety evaluation of a 3.3 kW wireless EV charger

University of Michigan, Dearborn (UMD) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) LLC have partnered to help further the commercialization of safe and reliable EV wireless charging technology. In this work, the optimized design of a 3.3 kW wireless EV charger is introduced. The predictive modeling is used as a tool for analyzing the system power sensitivity in terms of the horizontal misalignment. The modeling is also used as the tool for evaluating the radiation level and to determine the critical radiation hazardous zones. The magnetic field radiation near the charging zone is studied under both aligned and misaligned scenarios.
