Design and performance of a broadcast-and-select photonic packet switching architecture

Optical and traffic performance of a photonic packet switch based on the broadcast-and-select principle for routing and fibre delay lines for buffering are presented, with different feasible switch design options to achieve a global Tbit/s capacity and meet the ATM loss requirements.
