Martensitic transition and magnetocaloric effect in Mn1-xCoGe melt-spun ribbons

The MnCoGe system has attracted lots of attention for its tunable martensitic transition via chemical and physical pressure and has the potential application in room temperature magnetic refrigeration technique and magnetic shape memory effect1. The melt spinning of alloys has the advantages of shortening even avoiding the thermal annealing process to reach homogenization, fabricating alloys with textured structure. There are lots of reports on creating ribbons via melt-spinning technique to form textured magnetic shape memory alloy such as NiMIn

system for practical application over the years. However, there has little study on the MnCoGe systems by melt spinning technique.
