Lightwave system limitations of nonlinear optical effects

This study concludes that nonlinearities set the ultimate limits on system capacity; and that dispersion is the key parameter for managing nonlinearities. Very-high capacities have been demonstrated by using nonlinearities of the fibre network architecture.
