Supervisory Control And Automation Of Remote Substations Utilizing The Switched Telephone Network

Supervisory control and distribution automation is described utilizing the switched telephone network as the communication medium where remote locations make the cost of dedicated circuits prohibitive. An approach to interfacing a dial-up subsystem to an existing SCADA system is presented and performance characteristics of the switched network are discussed.
