Model design of MEMS based acoustic sensor for cochlear implant-wearable technology

The cochlear implant is the most important advancement in the treatment of hearing impairment. The hearing aid system consists of microphone or sensor, speech processor, stimulator, and cochlear electrodes. In conventional hearing aids, the speech processor uses microphones to receive voice and sound from the environment. In the proposed design, we plan to replace the microphone with an acoustic sensor with PZT as an actuator for a better performance and sound quality. The acoustic sensor technology offers more sensitivity and high directivity compared to the conventional hearing aids. ANSYS12.1 is used as a platform for designing, to study the characteristic feature and for performance analysis of the acoustic sensor.
