Tuning of bowtie nano-antenna resonance using As2S3 chalcogenide glass substrate

The scattering properties of a plasmonic bowtie nano-antenna coated with chalcogenide glass are studied using a three dimensional nonlinear Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) simulator. The third order optical nonlinearity of chalcogenide glass is utilized in tuning the resonant behavior of the nano-antenna. It was found that significant shifts in the resonance wavelength of the antenna are possible for small incremental changes in the illuminating field. The sensitivity of the presented structure to illumination level can be utilized in optical imaging and sensing applications.
