Abstract:

The proposed system focuses on development of non-servo AC-AC voltage converter. The conventional converters consists of a rectifier followed by an inverter, which converts AC into DC and back to regulated AC, which due to multiple energy conversions are wasteful of energy. The proposed system eliminates the DC section and directly converts line voltage into regulated AC, i.e. AC-AC converter. The system utilises for this purpose an IGBT switched at a definite frequency at variable pulse width, which depends upon line voltage and required output voltage. In SMPS pulse width is used for DC voltage regulation. A similar analogy is used for regulating AC voltage.
