Design of synchronization system of electrophysical facility «Gamma-4»

The facility is to be used in two operation modes: in a mode of generation of bremsstrahlung radiation pulses with limiting quantum energy up to 2 MeV when using one or several high-current electron vacuum diodes and in a mode of powerful pulse generation of soft X-Ray radiation when the facility operates with plasma load. One of the most important tasks when developing the multimodule facility is provision of separate facility modules' triggering by the time program (given by experiment conditions) to an accuracy of several nanoseconds. Basing upon solutions, tested at operation of the fIrst module of the facility - <;<;Gamma-1>> accelerator, there has been developed a design of synchronization system of <;<;Gamma-4>> facility, which should provide a triggering with precision not worse than ±3 ns of high-volt trigatron type gas-fIlled gaps of modules' pulse forming systems (144 gaps, operating voltage 1 MV), pre-pulse switches of modules (24 gaps, operating voltage 3 MY) and eight Marx generators (40 gaps, operating voltage 100 kV). The synchronization system involves 46 pulsed generators, involving also 21 generators based upon water-insulated lines with distributed parameters and multi-channel gas-fIlled gaps

. To raise amplitude of trigger pulses of formation systems' switches and pre-pulse module switches in the synchronization system of the facility, there were used step-up transformers on the basis of pulsed high-volt cables.
