Study on technical and economical efficiency of amorphous alloy transformer and on-load capacity regulating transformer in distribution network application

With the rapid development of China's economy and society as well as the increments of power load, the scale of power grid is expanding. Distribution transformers are important primary equipment in distribution network, and the quantity of distribution transformers keeps increasing at a rate of hundreds of thousands per year. Distribution transformers in our country are used in a large number and wide area, their energy efficiency and loss reduction level will directly influence the economic benefits of power companies. In recent years, due to the impact of international energy situation and domestic energy efficiency and pollution reduction policies, the various types of new energy-saving distribution transformers, which are based on the application of new materials, new structures, new process, new technology and so on, emerge in endlessly. Amorphous alloy transformers and on-load capacity regulating transformer are on the behalf of new types energy-saving distribution transformers because of their reducing no-load loss in the operation, but the specific implementation means are completely different. Amorphous alloy transformer is mainly through the use of new materials “amorphous” as the core to realize energy-saving, and the on-load capacity regulating transformer is through the use of new structure and new technology to achieve energy-saving. In the roughly equal price case, how to identify and choose the most suitable one from various types of new energy-saving distribution transformers on the market is always a problem that puzzles the power supply companies and users. Currently, although there are some scholars who have respectively analyzed the integrated economy in the application of amorphous alloy transformer and on-load capacity regulating transformer, the technical and economical comparison of these two types of energy-saving distribution transformers are rarely involved. This article has deeply compared and analyzed SH15 type amorphous alloy transformer and SZ11-T type from the performance parameters and comprehensive loss and other aspects. Besides, this article discussed the technical and economical efficiency of two kinds of energy-saving distribution transformers, and defined each applicable distribution range of load characteristics. In other words, when the annual average load rate is less than 0.2, SZ11-T type on-load capacity regulating transformer has an advantage over SH 15-type amorphous alloy transformer on energy-saving. The critical point of two capacity operation mode adjustment for SZ11-T type on-load capacity regulating transformer is also close to 0.2 load rate, which is associated with the rated value and technical parameters, but there may be a small shift. When the average load rate of on-load capacity regulating transformer is constant in large capacity mode, with the level of economic are closely related with the ratio of operation time in small capacity mode and operation time in large capacity mode. So it fully verified the impact of electricity load characteristics on the distribution transformer economic operation. These practical examples illustrate that the choose of distribution transformers are based on integrated analysis and calculation on actual load in engineering applications. This information can be the important reference for power companies and users when they determine and choose amorphous alloy transformer and on-load capacity regulating transformer.
