On the possibility of combining radiotherapy and photodynamic therapy

The scintillation yield of rare-earth doped LaF
₃
nanoparticles (NPs) was experimentally measured. Taken together with evidence of FRET between NPs and covalently bound photosensitizer molecules, this suggests a route to combine radiation and photodynamic therapy.
