Passively harmonically self-mode-locked vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser (VECSEL)

We demonstrate a harmonically self-mode-locked optically pumped semiconductor disk laser up to the third harmonic with a central wavelength of 1014 nm. Pulse durations penetrating the femtosecond regime at 500 MHz repetition rate are achieved.
