A methoc of computing electro-mechanical transfer functions for magnetorestrictive functional units

In a magnetostrictive device the active material is magnetized by a current in a driving coil. During magnetization ohmic losses and flux leakage occur in the coil system. The influence of losses and flux leakage on the performance is of special interest when the magnetostrictive device is to be adopted into an external system. An earlier developed model for magnetostrictive rods gives together with a mathematical formulation of the electric and magnetic circuits an opportunity to compute electro-mechanical transfer functions for magnetostrictive functional units.
