Analysis design and implementation of VSI fed high gain full bridge isolated DC-DC converter for renewable energy applications

A phase shift full bridge (PSFB) converter with voltage doubler for renewable energy applications is proposed. The alternative energy sources can't be used as such as they provide un-regulated electric power. Considering the demand that the output voltage is higher than the input voltage in Renewable energy systems, the voltage-doubler is added to achieve higher voltage gain compared with traditional PSFB converter. The phase shift converter operating at frequency as high as 20–25 kHz to improve the power density of the converter using unity turns ratio in the isolation transformer. This paper also presents a comparison of conventional phase shifted full bridge DC-DC converter with the proposed converter. The given comparison and discussion is suitable for a front end DC-DC converter for renewable energy applications. The transformer size and efficiency of the converter are compared. The proposed converter is simulated using Pspice and finally a prototype of proposed converter is made and the experimental results are given to verify them.
