2 μm Cascaded Raman scattering emission from As2S3 high-Q microspheres

This work presents first experimental measurements of cascaded stimulated Raman scattering emission from high-Q As
₂
s
₃
microspheres in the mid-IR region of 2 μm. The pumping setup used is self-frequency locked on the microsphere resonances. Using a pump signal in the 1880 nm band of thulium, high order stimulated Raman emission up to the 3
^rd
order and reaching a band centered at 2355 nm has been observed.
