Trade-off between Impairment Awareness and Power Economy in optical WDM networks

To achieve Power Economy (PE), transparency is introduced which lacks in signal regeneration. This, results in noise accumulation due to the impairments. The trade-off between PE and Impairment Awareness (IA) is simulated in OptSim.
