KrF lasers for inertial fusion energy

We present a conceptual design for a 400 J, 5 Hz KrF laser to develop the technologies required for inertial fusion energy. The issues that need to be addressed are lifetime, efficiency and cost. Areas that need development are the emitter, the foil support (hibachi), the pulse power driver, the optics, and laser gas conditioning system. We have identified enabling technologies for each, and developed a program plan to combine them In a single integrated test.
