The impact of power line electric field on neural activity: A theoretical investigation

The neural side effects of exposure to electric field from power lines are investigated both when a neuron's axon is at rest and when the axon is firing in a regular way. The frequency of the alternating current which oscillates has been considered 50Hz and 60 Hz. In some field strength the external electric field could stimulate the neuron to evoke an action potential even at condition of resting. In firing regime of action potential, comparison between presence and absence of electric field on spikes of action potential has been investigated while the temporal and spatial behaviors of propagation has been evaluated.
