Code Phase Synchronization Technique In Ds/ss Packet Radio Communications Under A Rayleigh Fading Channel

In this paper we present a code phase synchronization scheme which employs differential detection structure with a novel verification method incorporated for the coincidence detection. To cope with the unknown, fluctuating SNRs of incoming packets, a detection window technique[2] is used. This novel verification method effectively eliminates the beforehand computation[3][4] which is needed to find the optimum threshold level. We applied this synchronization scheme to the mobile satellite environment and found that the differential detection structure could subdue error-incurring sidelobes quite effectively, and that significant improvement in terms of packet loss probability also be achieved.
