The transcend data production solution

Lucent Worldwide Services (LWS) engineers are often encumbered by the logistics of provisioning the network data that they engineer. They must routinely use database interfaces that are dated, restrictive, labor-intensive, and inconsistent across network elements. To deal with these problems, Lucent is developing a data production solution called Transcend. This letter briefly presents the vision of the Transcend project, including its fundamental “work the way you think” approach, and then describes the novel components being implemented. These components capture and reuse the product expertise of the engineer, enabling the rapid comprehension, rapid decision-making, and rapid data production necessary for the efficient delivery of services.
