On overload control in a TINA network

TINA (Telecommunications Information Networking Architecture) is intended to be an open object oriented architecture without restrictions on service types. A TINA application consists of a number of computational objects logically linked to each other. Since these objects have to be implemented in a physical network with finite capacity, there is a need to consider how an overload control can be constructed for TINA networks. This paper investigates the behaviour of a TINA network during an overload situation. The results shows that the best network performance is achieved when the overload control tries to optimise the overall network performance instead of protecting a single node.
