Observer-based adaptive fuzzy sliding-mode guidance law design for missiles with TVC and DCS

This approach addresses an observer-based adaptive fuzzy sliding-mode guidance law design for missiles equipped with thrust vector control (TVC) and divert control system (DCS). The aim of the present work is to achieve bounded target interception under the 3 degree-of-freedom (DOF) control to improve the intercepting accuracy of the missile by narrowing the distance between the intercepting missile and the target missile to within effective range for triggering the missile's explosion. Considering external disturbances and the variation of the missile's mass, the 3 DOF adaptive fuzzy sliding-mode controller with center adaption of membership functions is designed to estimate upper bounds of the lumped uncertainty using the sliding-mode, the fuzzy inference mechanism and the adaptive algorithm with a switching surface. And overall system stability is verified by use of the Lyapunov stability theory. Furthermore, successful simulation results are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed observer-based adaptive fuzzy sliding-mode guidance law.
