Via-fence antennas on LTCC for radar applications at 122 GHz

As part of an ongoing pursuit of technologies for integrated millimeter-wave radar sensors, we present simulation and measurement results of two antennas in LTCC technology for the ISM band at 122 GHz on Hirai's CS71 substrate material. Both antennas share common design features, such as the feeding microstrip line, the H-shaped coupling aperture and the via-fence, but differ in their parameters, the parasitic element (a quadratic patch and three stripes) and therefore, their bandwidth and radiation pattern.
