Nonlinear quasi-optics for phase conjugate array antennas at millimetre wave frequencies

This paper discusses applying concepts developed in nonlinear optics to quasi-optical millimetre wave technology. In particular a technique is proposed that employs the quasi-optical layout of an array antenna in a similar configuration to optical phase conjugation and uses the nonlinearity of amplifying elements to generate a phase conjugate wavefront. Using concepts from nonlinear optics significantly simplifies the operation of phase conjugate antenna arrays which are adaptive antennas that could find application in radar and mobile communication systems.
