Effect of timing error on equalizer performance

Certain standards such as DOCSIS mandate symbol-spaced equalizers. Unfortunately, performance depends strongly on the sampling times of the receiver's matched filter. This paper investigates timing error sensitivity with respect to modulation error ratio (MER) and the equalizer convergence time.
