Staying ahead of the competition: technology acquisition and its global implications

The results of the research project on technology acquisition in the electronics industry of Oregon are presented in this paper. The objective of the projects was to identify the alternatives used for technology acquisition and then to explain the implications of the various alternatives which are: existing/new; internal R&D; licensing; joint ventures; corporate; venturing; and strategic alliances.
