Leveraging OSHA's contributions to a State's violence prevention program

Summary form only given. The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) identified the need for small retail businesses to address workplace violence prevention. Nationally, the OSHA draft performance standard requires business owners to develop workplace violence prevention programs without providing the information necessary. The Federal (OSHA) and State (AKOSH) Anchorage offices partnered to provide this information. The project examined regulation and training alternatives, and it developed the most desirable-training. AKOSH team members are the eventual trainers, therefore project benefits included increased knowledge and program ownership.
