In 2005, enabling technologies will eliminate middle management's role of collecting, organizing, filtering and disseminating information throughout the organization. Managers must become corporate change agents, knowledgeable of technology and possessing the ability to use technology to gain a sustainable competitive advantage. The authors argue that a sustainable competitive advantage can only be achieved when a company's workforce learns, thinks, creates, invents and establishes new levels of quality, faster than their competitors.
