Investigation and Analysis of Drivers' Speedometer Observation and Vehicle-Speed Cognition

Speedometer is a gauge that measures and displays the real-time speed of a vehicle. In this study, we investigated the observe pattern of driver for speedometer in different driving conditions through questionnaires and accident investigations. The questionnaire includes driver's basic information, driving habits, characteristics of speed cognition. Then we conducted a correlation analysis between the factors and driver's speed cognition pattern. Among all the factors, examined in previous studies, gender factor, diving year factor and eyesight factor of driver are selected emphatically. Then we analyzed drivers' observation on speedometer and cognition on the vehicle speed to provide a reference for in-depth analysis on traffic accidents and improvement of automotive display device.
