Attosecond photonics for optical communications

Recent experiments have demonstrated that low-jitter mode locked lasers enable unprecedented high-resolution high-speed analog to digital conversion. That capability may be leveraged to bring spectral efficiency of optical transport systems to its Shannon limit.
