Electrocardiographic inverse computation method based on characteristic event detection and propagation simulation

A new idea is outlined for attacking the inverse problem of electrocardiology. The method relies on the estimation of the time instants of characteristic events (CEs) of ventricular activation such as breakthrough and collision of activation waves. To the sequence of registered CEs a propagating heart model is assigned with a similar CE sequence. The propagation model yielding a similar CE sequence as the heart studied is thought to be a reasonable approximation of the inverse solution from an activation point of view.
