R&D management and financial performance

This paper reports empirical results of research into the relationship of R&D management and performance. It is based on the contingency approach, in particular, the work of Lawrence and Lorsch [14]. It looks at global management of R&D and includes: • its place in the organization; • the organizational structure of the R&D department; and • the relationship between R&D and other parts of the company.
