Increasing the maximum power which can be transmitted over long high-voltage tie lines without loss of synchronism following a short-circuit tripout. 2. Reducing system disturbance and shock at the instant of reclosing by reconnecting the two parts of the system before they have swung too far apart. 3. Reducing line outage time and improving service to customers.
