Challenges in the Support Structure Design and Assembly of HD3, a $\hbox{Nb}_{3}\hbox{Sn}$ Block-Type Dipole Magnet

As part of the development of very high field dipole magnets for particle accelerators, the Superconducting Magnet Program at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is developing block-type dipole magnets. One of the main challenges of this geometry is to provide support to the coil in the aperture while maintaining an adequate clear bore.
