Olympus-based propagation measurements in southern UK

Describes measurements made at two sites, namely Sparsholt, near Winchester, and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), at Chilton. The Sparsholt data refer to eleven months of observations using the 12.5 GHz (B0) beacon emission and also using signals at both polarisations from the 19.8 GHz (B1) beacon on the Olympus satellite which operated from the nominally geostationary satellite location at 19 degrees West longitude between August 1989 and August 1993. Poiares-Baptista and Davies (1994) provide details of the satellite characteristics. The polarisations of the B1 beacon are truely horizontal and vertical only at the sub-satellite point. For the measurements reported in the paper they are tilted from the local vertical/horizontal positions by 13.7 degrees. The Chilton data presented refer to one year of observations at 29.7 GHz from the B2 beacon.
