Lightning test fixture modeling and simulation; a comparison of two models

This paper compares simulations of a lightning response test structure using two separate computational methods, neither of which is ideally suited for the task. A frequency domain `sweep' of frequencies is simulated using a full-wave method of moments code, and a narrow modulated Gaussian pulse is simulated using Transmission Line Matrix methods. Both codes have their strengths and weaknesses. As does the test data. Test data requires extensive analysis in order to salvage meaningful results. What began as a validation effort ended in an interesting case study in using information from multiple sources to obtain useful results from an imperfect test.
