Digging for computer `gold' [Boston Computer Museum]

It wasn't exactly a dignified job that the president of the Digital Equipment Corp. had taken on, but there he was, with a group of students employed temporarily by Digital, carting away a mountain of rubbish outside a small software company in West Concord, Mass. Finally the executive, Kenneth Olsen, had found what he was looking for that summer in 1973: that rubbish was the disassembled remains of an early computer, the Whirlwind.
