International trade: Japan's electronics markets: A pair of views: Some denigrate dumping practices; others say the U.S. and other countries must learn how to compete

Japanese electronic products, most particularly in the consumer area, are proliferating in the U.S. market. Where U.S. corporations make competing products, prices have been driven down as a direct result of the Japanese challenge. This may make the U.S. consumer happy, but in some cases, U.S. companies have gone out of business, and this has put people out of work.
