Message from the Program Chairs - COMPSAC 2012

COMPSAC 2012, the 36th IEEE Annual International Computer Software and Applications Conference is being held in Izir, Turkey. The technical program includes keynote addresses, plenary panels, panel discussions, research papers, industrial papers, fast abstracts, posters, and the doctoral symposium. It also includes a number of workshops on related subjects. Additionally, the third day of the conference is organized as a Cloud Day, complete with paper sessions, a panel, and a keynote address. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Software life cycle, evolution, and maintenance; requirements engineering; formal methods; software architecture and design; software testing; reliability, metrics, and fault tolerance; security; HCI and usability; real-time and embedded systems; mobile & pervasive computing; smart computing; Web semantics; Web services and systems; cloud computing; education and learning; applications. For the research papers, we received 237 submissions. Each paper was carefully reviewed by three program committee members through a double-blind review process. The track chairs recommended status of all papers and these were further discussed in the face-to-face program committee meeting where many track chairs attended. At the end, 41 submissions were accepted as regular papers (at about 17% acceptance rate) and 31 as short papers. Additionally, 9 each were accepted as Fast Abstracts and Posters.
