Chance Discovery in Teaching of EFL Writing Using Weak Tie to Innovation Model (WTTI Model)

This study aims at discovering chances for new pedagogies in teaching the Academic writing to undergraduates to bring about a long-desired breakthrough. Grounded Theory Analysis was applied to bring discoveries on loss of interest and motivation and encounters of major obstacles. Questionnaire and interviews were done to find what in-class practices were done to intimate or to bore students. They were also administrated to discover what is stopping the students from writing well, even those highly motivated ones. WTTI model (Weak Tie to Innovation Model) then leads this research to rare and notable pedagogies by examining processes and strategies implemented in college writing communities of other countries. Later the discoveries are included in making an innovative syllabus for the EFL college students. The newly made syllabus was used as a trial in a writing class for ten months. The findings show an amazing result ¡V none of the subjects failed noticing his/her own progress. All of them claimed to have experienced a big change in their learning attitude towards, motivation behind and confidence in English academic writing. Subjects have also expressed that the most valuable insight in this study is that they finally understand the importance of the processes in learning academic writing. Furthermore, students happily claimed that the critical thinking activities had unlocked them to an amazing world where they find themselves liberated in thinking.
