Plasmon induced transparency with asymmetric π-shaped metamaterials

We propose a planar metamaterial composed of asymmetrically positioned π-shaped structures that exhibits plasmon induced transparency (PIT). The system enables fine tuning of PIT spectral behavior and near field enhancement control and provides smaller mode volumes.
