Tolerance and tuning of diffraction-grating narrowed synchronously pumped optical parametric oscillators

Line-narrowing of a synchronously-pumped OPO using an intracavity diffraction grating leads to a fivefold increase of the resonator-length detuning tolerance. We show that this effect is due to resonant beam geometric adaptation within the cavity.
