"Heatless-cure" coating of electrical windings

A new process for applying a protective coat to the windings of most all types of motors, generators, and other electrical windings used in appliances, power tools, homes, automobiles, and industry is described. Specifically formulated resins are automatically metered and mixed with a catalyst and accurately dispensed directly onto the winding. The winding is usually rotated or otherwise manipulated to control the distribution of the resin throughout the winding, and to prevent drippage and waste. The catalyst will cause a chemical exotherm which will cure the resin without an oven baking or other heat-cure process. It can save 90% of the energy consumed by a heat-cure process, and it can reduce the emissions of volatile organic compounds to less than 2% of the resin weight.
