Brightness scaling of diodes lasers and fiber coupled modules at 9xx nm

We report on the development of high brightness broad area laser diodes at nLIGHT used in fiber laser pump modules. We demonstrate that by optimizing epitaxial design and device geometry the usable output power of diode lasers at 9xx nm can be increased by over 35%, resulting in high power fiber laser pump modules coupling over 60W into a 105um, 0.15 NA fiber.
