A progressive numerical method for depressing the internal resonances of scattering problems

The method of moments (MoM) produces spurious results while calculating electromagnetic scattering at the internal resonance frequencies on infinite conducting cylinders. A progressive numerical method provides an efficient way to deal with this situation. It solves the integral equations progressively for many selected sub-regions of the surface instead of the whole object. A concept of overlapping regions is introduced to enhance the accuracy of the solutions. Two examples are shown to illustrate the validity of this technique.
