Breakthroughs in Nonlinear Silicon Photonics 2011

We present an overview of the recent developments in nonlinear silicon photonics. There were significant advances in devices exploiting the χ
⁽²⁾
and χ
⁽³⁾
nonlinearities. Here, we discuss parametric amplification, wavelength conversion, super-continuum generation, parametric oscillation, and frequency comb generation in silicon-based devices.
