A triple-band monopole planar antenna for DCS1800 and WiMAX applications

A triple-band monopole planar antenna for DCS1800(Digital Cellular System) and WiMAX(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) systems is proposed and studied in this paper. The antenna achieved multiband performance by etching an H-shaped and two U-shaped slots on a rectangular radiation patch, which covers 1.8GHz band for DCS and 3.5/5.5GHz bands for WiMAX. <−10dB are 11%, 28% and 13% at 1.8GHz, 3.5GHz and 5.5GHz, respectively. Moreover, the antenna maintained a monopole-like radiation pattern at the designed operating bands. The antenna is fabricated and a good agreement is obtained between the simulated and measured results.
