Optimal hub deployment for 28 GHz LMDS systems

The network planner is faced with a number of issues in trying to determine the optimal deployment scenario for an LMDS (local multipoint distribution service) network. In the pre-auction stage one may be interested in which service area or BTA would be more conducive to a broadband wireless access system. Such issues as rainfall rate, terrain, foliage, density of households or businesses must be taken into account. In the post auction stage one is interested in planning a hub deployment that provides adequate coverage for a reasonable infrastructure cost. The ideal scenario would be the one that provides the minimum infrastructure cost per potential customer. In other words the deployment scenario that provides maximum return on investment.
