Abstract:
Applications designed for a new standard that can receive, read, view or play older standards, are said to be backward compatible [1]. Testing that ensures a new version of an application continues to function with the assets created from an older version of the same application is known as backward compatibility testing [2]. The strategy and solution presented in this article facilitates the project team with the capability to test multiple versions of an API within a single test automation framework. This paper presents a case study of API backward compatibility testing, using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.
