Large-scale plasmonic problems solved with the multilevel fast multipole algorithm

We present a surface integral equation (SIE) approach to model the electromagnetic behavior of metallic objects at optical frequencies. The solution of electrically large problems (involving large number of unknowns) is accelerated using the Multilevel Fast Multipole Algorithm (MLFMA). To the authors' knowledge, this is the first time that the MLFMA is applied in plasmonics.
